Dialectics of Aggression

Main Article Content

Abstract

The article presents analytical survey of Russian’s expansionist policy from the Kievan Rus to present time. It’s argued that historical development Russian state is based on territorial expansion and military aggression. The establishment of Russian empire finally created the main characteristics of its domestic and foreign policy – totalitarianism, great-power chauvinism and empire ambitions. These qualities have become the driving power of Russian policy and mentality. In this context the consequences of wars in which Russia took part were also considered. The complex of factors and historical circumstances of the aggressive type of political thinking and foreign policy behavior has been systematized. On the base of historical facts, particularly the events of current Russian-Ukraine war, its essence and reasons have been analyzing in the information and international dimension.

It is noted that the capture of Kiev in 1918 by the troops of Red Army resulted in thousands civil victims. After affiliation with treaty on establishment of the Soviet Union in 1922 Ukraine was attached to the “Russian charity” for almost seventy years. The full-scale intervention of multinational Russian army in Ukraine in 2022 is a real violation of international land humanitarian law. Genocide, massive terror, destruction of economic infrastructure, and slaughter of civil population still kept in silence in Russian media. Instead of that faked narratives on “liberation mission of Russia: and “termination of Nazi” have become the stereotype of Russian information war against Ukraine. Firstly, aggression against Ukrainian state and people is aimed at the termination of independent nation. Secondly, aggression has a goal to stop integrational course of Ukraine that directed at the obtaining a membership in Euro-Atlantic structures. Military cooperation between Ukraine and NATO is an acceptable way to ensure the European security.

In the article the phenomena of political conscious at the post-war period is also examined. Attention is focused on the probable inflections in mentality of Ukrainian combatants and migrants. In conclusion, the oncoming scenario of eventual transformations of the international system has been considered.
