Sino-Japanese Relations in the Context of Historical Development

Main Article Content

Abstract

The article examines the problem of the genesis of Sino-Japanese relations in their historical retrospect. The historical prerequisites for the formation of modern relations between the People's Republic of China and Japan were analyzed, and it was also found that the history of relations between the two countries dates back more than 4 thousand years. During this long historical period, the parties have passed the difficult test of time, from brutal confrontation to the establishment of beneficial cooperation. Political changes within the countries and their impact on the external ambitions of the political leadership of the countries are analyzed. The main concepts and fundamental principles of the foreign policies of both countries have been established. Studies of the most acute problematic issues of bilateral relations, which formed negative memories of one country about another, remain in the memory of peoples to this day and prevent further rapprochement. It was revealed that the political circles of the countries are aware of the essence of existing historical problems, but they are trying to restrain negative memories and find mechanisms and formats for the new coexistence of the peoples of both countries. In particular, the parties initiated an economic dialogue between Japan and China at a high level as a strategic tool for the development of cooperation in the economic sphere, the role of which should grow. It has been confirmed that Beijing and Tokyo have established a process of monitoring the impressions of the population of one country about the other, are taking measures to reduce tension in relations, and are also trying to find new, more effective models of coexistence. It was found that both sides decided to cooperate together in those areas where Japan and China have a great influence on the world economy and can contribute to the sustainable growth of the world economy. At the same time, priority will be given to cooperation in the fields of energy and the environment based on the recognition that the parties bear responsibility to future generations and the international community for the effectiveness of such cooperation. It is proven that the parties will promote mutually beneficial cooperation and the expansion of mutual benefits in a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, information and communication technology, finance, food and product safety, protection of intellectual property rights, business environment, agriculture, forestry and fisheries economy, transport and tourism, water and health care.
