Japan in the “New Era” («令和») under Shinzo Abe

Abstract

The article analyzes the period of Japan’s entry into the new historical era of “reiva”, which is due to the ascent to the imperial throne of Prince Naruhito. The historical tradition in Japan regarding the name of the era is considered and the content of the new era is revealed. The role and place of the Confucian concept of building a state based on the “family” principle is analyzed. Traced the activities of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during his second term in the period 2012-2020. The directions of Shinzo Abe’s economic policy are analyzed and its main activities are grouped. The main directions of the economic reforms of the Japanese Prime Minister and their impact on the standard of living of the Japanese are considered. The results of the country’s socio-economic development and transformational changes in the structure of the economy are presented. The main problems of the country's slow development are identified and formulated, which include the aging of the nation and the decline in labor productivity. The main challenges facing Japanese society at the present stage are formulated.


As a promising direction for implementing the proposed strategy, the concept of transition from an information society to a superintelligent one is considered, where intelligence and reason are the drivers of economic growth. A series of initiatives aimed at implementing the concept of superintelligence, which is currently being deepened and intensively promoted as “Society 5.0”, is presented. It is proved that information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence will play an important role in the concept.


The achievement of the article is the analysis of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Japan, the characteristics of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries are presented, the results and disadvantages of cooperation are clarified. It was found that Japan actively supports Ukraine in its war against the Russian Federation and provides significant financial assistance. Promising areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Japan have been predicted. It is concluded that the intensification of visits at the highest level will contribute to the development of relations with promising partners and create new opportunities for mutual development.
