Позиція США щодо надання військової допомоги Великій Британії на початку Другої світової війни (1939-1941 рр.)

Анотація

У статті розглядається проблема відносин між двома провідними державами світу – Великою Британією та США, які мали величезний вплив на розвиток тогочасної міжнародної ситуації і продовжують її багато в чому визначати нині. Як вектор дослідження автор використав фактор американської військової допомоги британським урядам Н. Чемберлена та У. Черчилля для боротьби проти нацистської Німеччини. У зв’язку з цим, автор поставив за мету провести комплексний аналіз та дати власну оцінку позиції США щодо надання Великій Британії військової допомоги на початку Другої світової війни.


Протягом роботи над дослідженням автор використав порівняльно-історичний метод для аналізу факторів впливу на позицію США щодо надання Лондону військової допомоги, проблемно-хронологічний – для викладення матеріалу у хронологічному порядку, а також статистичний – для відображення ставлення звичайних американців щодо важливих рішень адміністрації Ф. Рузвельта. Це дало змогу проаналізувати та переосмислити, з огляду на сучасну геополітичну ситуацію, еволюцію позиції США щодо Великої Британії стосовно проблеми надання останній військової допомоги.


Автор робить висновок, що необхідність підтримки Лондона різними видами зброї, озброєння та боєприпасів для боротьби проти режиму А. Гітлера на початку Другої світової війни зумовила суттєву зміну принципів зовнішньої політики Сполучених Штатів – від «ізоляціонізму» у 1939 р. до цілковитої відмови від нього наприкінці 1941 р. Водночас, на думку автора, вказаний процес гальмувала ціла низка факторів, поміж яких – «ізоляціоністська» опозиція у Конгресі та поступове розуміння адміністрацією Ф. Рузвельта загрози Німеччини для безпеки США.
