Australian Security and Military Assistance to Ukraine in Resistance to Russian Aggression
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article analyzes Australia’s military contribution to countering Russian aggression: the main directions, mechanisms, and volumes of military assistance to the Ukrainian Defense Forces in 2022-2025.
It is noted that in the current geopolitical situation, Australia is one of the key partners of our country in countering Russian aggression. The forms of assistance to Ukraine and effective instruments of influence on the aggressor country, primarily in the military sphere, are analyzed in detail. Considerable attention is focused on the trends of strengthening and expanding sanctions measures that go beyond the purely economic nature.
The key priorities of the country’s foreign policy in the context of a full-scale Russian invasion and the form of response to Russian aggression are outlined. It is noted that the main priority of Australia’s strategy in responding to external challenges is countering Russia’s aggressive policy. Australia’s participation in international initiatives to provide military assistance to Ukraine is analyzed.
Measures to consolidate international support through building sustainable cooperation with partners in areas related to ensuring national security and defense, protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine were highlighted.
The authors note the continuity and stability of Australia’s support for Ukraine, as well as the tendency to increase and expand the volumes and areas of military assistance provided since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. Regular tranches of military assistance indicate Australia’s intentions not only to provide one-time assistance, but also to systematically support Ukraine’s defense infrastructure.
It was emphasized that Australia’s defense and military assistance is one of the important components of support for Ukraine and one of the key factors in countering Russian aggression.
