Abstract

The unprecedented war launched by Russia against our country is aimed by the aggressor at the extermination of Ukraine, the destruction or conversion of the Ukrainian people to the Russian state, the humiliation of Ukrainian dignity and the denigration of Ukrainian European values. This is a terrible war, built on the concept of scorched earth and the transformation of Ukrainian patriots into a Russian slave force. This is a war of civilizations; a war of democracy against autocracy, a war to exterminate the sprouts of European is m that has already grown firmly in Ukrainian society.

Russia nurtured the idea of a war against Ukraine for several decades, as an independent Ukrainian state irritated the Russian leadership and was incomprehensible to the Russian community. This attitude has not changed over the years, but has only strengthened with the further successful development of Ukraine, the growth of economic potential and the advocacy of an independent move towards European and Euro-Atlantic structures. For some time, the leadership of Moscow was convinced that the suspirations of Ukraine are temporary, “children’s fun”, which will quickly change to pro-Russian ones, and the Ukrainian people will change their European orientation to pro-Russian ones. To this end, Russia made significant efforts, blackmailing Ukraine with a political and economic blockade, blackmail and pressure, interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state, the introduction of its people into the Ukrainian government and the appointment of a pro-Russian president.

The imperial essence of Russia did not disappear, but was veiled by artificial pro-Russian projects that Moscow implemented in the post-Soviet space, creating the Commonwealth of Independent States and other structures derived from it. After the Second World War, Moscow gave Ukraine – the Ukrainian SSR a chance to become a member of the United Nations and become one of the founders of this world organization. We will remind that this decision was happened thanks to the uncompromising position of US President Franklin Roosevelt and GB Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The Union was needed vassals in the future organization who would consistently vote for its proposals.

At the same time, domestic politics was spinning around the fake idea of “building communism”. The Ukrainian people had a hard time succumbing to such a policy: it failed the socialist competition, ideological work, the Communist Party scheme of managing the country, etc. The most active persons were isolated and destroyed together with their families. The ideological system raised “homo soveticus”, whose descendants are still fighting against Ukrainians as the most active defenders of Soviet ideology. And all those who are in comprehensible to this mass are called Banderites and nationalists by the Rashists.

The article examines the main milestones of Russia’s preparation for the war against Ukraine. Attention is focused on issues of Russia’s foreign and domestic policy, which confirms and testifies the aggressive, invasive character of the Ukrainian neighbor. The issue of Ukrainian-Russian relations has always occupied an important place among the security problems of the Ukrainian state. The research on this plane is absolutely necessary in order to take into account a number of strategic and tactical miscalculations which were made by the power structures of our country in the domestic and foreign policy spheres, in order to build the future of Ukraine.
